Find Your Happy Place (and Go There Often)
My happy place.
Going to Your ‘Happy Place’ Is Travel, Too
We can reap some of travel’s greatest rewards without venturing far from home. We can be transported to a place of renewal, or find adventure, without epic itineraries or crossing oceans.
We all need a sanctuary—a place of respite, restoration, and fulfillment when life has emptied us. A physical, mental, or emotional haven where we can rejuvenate and refresh our soul. A place we yearn to return to, and once we’re there, never want to leave. We all need a “happy place.”
It looks and feels different for each of us. It can be elusive. It can evolve over time, shifting as we move through new chapters in life.
It might be the cherished company of a friend, whose presence makes us feel seen and safe. It could be a song whose melody fills your heart with fond memories of days gone by. For some, it’s the soothing sound of crashing waves on a sandy shore—or the stillness of a secluded cabin tucked among trees. For others, it’s the energy of a big city: bright lights, loud horns, the hum of possibility.
Your happy place might be a secret oasis that lives only in your imagination—a refuge you return to in moments of stress or sadness, where peace is gently restored. Or maybe it’s the comfort of home, wrapped in your favorite blanket, a warm cup of coffee in hand, and your dog curled up beside you.
We owe it to ourselves to be in constant pursuit of our happy place—and to travel there as often as we can. Maybe it’s a physical destination. Maybe it’s a state of mind. Maybe it’s both.
Whatever it is for you, find it.
And go there.
Often.
